Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories now available for PS3
For a lot of us, it's hard to think that over seven years ago we saw the first PSP release of Grand Theft Auto when Rockstar released Liberty City Stories. In 2006, Rockstar made available the PS2 version, followed by Vice City Stories later that year for PSP - which saw a PS2 release, as well, that following year.

In case you didn't get to try out these amazing titles (with super fun missions, incredible stories, and excellent soundtracks), or just want to try them out once more, you can get the PS2 versions now for download on the PlayStation 3.

First Chinatown Wars Details & Screenshots Emerge
The first details and screenshots for the anticipated DS title by Rockstar Leeds hit the mailboxes of subscribers of Nintendo Power, providing a brief and interesting first look at the game. Personally I'm impressed by GTA: Chinatown Wars and I can firmly say that it exceeded my initial expectations. I've written a rundown of information from the article over at IGN, but you can read the four page article yourself: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 and Page 4.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is scheduled to release during the holiday season of 2008, shortly after the release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles and around the same time as the PC version of GTA IV and the first downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV.

Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars Announced for DS
Grand Theft Auto is coming to the Nintendo DS. Yes, that platform. Take-Two Interactive certainly is tapping into the strongest platform right now to gain more Zelnick nickels and Feder bucks, but we're not complaining. Name of the title? It's Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars. The game is set in a modern day Liberty City, but more is not known. Big question right now is if it's top-down or viewed in a third person perspective as we have come to known GTA.

The full press release from Rockstar Games:

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Developed by Rockstar Leeds in conjunction with series creators Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available on the Nintendo DS™ in North America and Europe this winter.

This is a game that will deliver a rich, fast-paced and intense 'Grand Theft Auto' experience that will be truly unique to Nintendo's handheld platform, said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. Rockstar Leeds, along with the team at Rockstar North, has built upon a decade of progressive design on Grand Theft Auto, and has created something fundamentally fresh and immersive.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is an entirely original entry into the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, and brings a new level of interactivity to its sprawling open environments. With the use of the DS touch screen, players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the franchise.

T2 CEO Answers Question on Portable GTA IV
In the major corporate world out there this might not be major news, but for us right now it's something to cling on... well it's all we have right now. During a conference call held yesterday by executives of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two, which followed their financial report for the quarter ending April 30, 2008 (more on that here), a question was put forward by video games analyst Anthony Gikas of investment bank Piper Jaffray.

He asked if there's any potential possibility of us seeing a handheld vesion of GTA IV:

Anthony Gikas, Piper Jaffray
Okay, and then last question on GTA -- any update for us or announcement on a potential handheld version of GTA IV?

Benjamin Feder, Take-Two CEO
Nothing to announce today, sorry.

I know there's not much to it really, but we'll have to see as the year goes by if there's any announcement on a portable version of GTA IV - or another one for that matter. Obviously if it's based on GTA IV it'll have to be scaled down in various ways, but the city can very likely fit. Crazy speculation, I know... but that's what it has come down to. Come on Rockstar!

In ''real news'', the company announced that they had delayed the first episodic content for the game from their fourth quarter of this year (Aug - Oct), to the first quarter of their 2009 fiscal year (Nov '08 - Jan '09). They commented by saying that the reason is not due to development issues, but that they're delaying it for ''portfolio balances''. This proves once gain one of the cons of a developer being a subsidiary of a public holding company. Not to be misled by the fact that there could still be other downloadable content released before that date.

Come on over to the 'Hood
To my surprise, GTA Portable still pulled in a lot of visitors this week - even though we haven't had a portable GTA title for a long time now, and so far there's no official word on the next one. I want to inform you guys on something that I'm busy with now, of course apart from playing the game. Over at IGN they've launched a rather big fan site called GTA 'Hood, - the main aim of it right now is to offer you guys the best place to aid in playing the game. Whether it's finding a pigeon, armor, or even a step by step mission guide on an interactive map! It's really exciting and things are starting to shape up. Anyone can contribute!

GTA IV Box Art Released, Trailer 3 Coming December 6th
Rockstar Games today released the final box art for Grand Theft Auto IV on the official website - which slightly changed. Along with this, they released a short video of the box art being painted on a wall. They also announced the debut date of the third trailer ''Move up, ladies'' as December 6th at 3:00 PM EST / 8:00 PM GMT.

While currently there are no new screenshots on the website, they did upload four files in the screenshot directory. It goes from chronologically ending at 021.jpg. I personally found this to be uploaded today, and it goes without saying that these are placeholders for screenshots to be uploaded sometime between now up until the release of trailer three on December 6th.

UPDATE: The aforementioned images have been removed.

Grand Theft Auto IV Box Art, Video Coming Soon
At about 4am GMT today I got an e-mail from Jordan over at informing me about this news article he posted. Basically he talks about a box art and a short 30 second video of Grand Theft Auto IV coming soon. I've looked at the evidence myself, and while I can't tell you anything about it, I can safely say that he's right. It's official stuff!

We don't know when it'll come out, but we're both guessing during this week. Perhaps if other websites later today post about this, it'll be more assuring to you. But at least take Jordan's credibility - someone who's been running his fan site since 2002.

Grand Theft Auto IV Delayed!
Sad news for a lot of fans tonight, GTA IV has been delayed due to ''additional development time required'' to complete the title. The game is now planned to be released in the second quarter of Rockstar Games' parent company, Take Two, which stretches over February, March and April.

We received this e-mail from Rockstar Games:

Hi everyone,
I wanted to tell you personally that we have decided to move Grand Theft Auto IV back a bit. We also want to thank you for all the incredible support you've shown us over the years. We’ll have more information very soon, but in the meantime here’s a release we’re sending out to the press.

Best wishes,

Sam Houser
Founder Rockstar Games

The press release states that the parent company is updating its financial guidance, of course due to the delay, where we get a clear reason for pushing back the title...

Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two, stated, ''With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games. Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. We all recognize that perfecting the game is vital and I can assure everyone it will be worth the wait. We owe it to the game's millions of fans, to our dedicated development team, and to our shareholders to make sure that Grand Theft Auto IV is a groundbreaking gaming experience that takes maximum advantage of next generation technology.''

Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games, added, ''The new consoles are allowing us to create the Grand Theft Auto game we always dreamed about. Every aspect of the game and its design has been completely transformed. The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms. As always, our goal is to surpass even the wildest expectations of the game's fans, and to create the ultimate high definition video game experience.''

More details are to follow soon, and a conference call that can be streamed via the web is scheduled for 5:30 PM EDT. We'll update you as we receive more details.

Press Release:

UPDATE: Nothing else came out during the conference call, just reassurance that they want to bring out the title at its best, and not finish it up sooner to meet the holiday release schedule.
